Merry Christmas from Fir Tree Stud!

Fir Tree Studs Christmas gathering at the Red Lion, Holme on Spalding Moor, was a very festive occasion. It was a welcome opportunity, to shed three layers of clothes and our wellie boots! As you can see from the photos, a good time was had by all. Party games explain why small children are being lifted to the roof!!

Williams 7'9" FTS RUG!!!

Mary Lunn had a bit of a problem! William her much loved 19hh Shire has never had a rug. She had tried to get him one before but had always been unsuccessful. FTS RUGS had a word with our supplier and arranged to have two 7'9" rugs specially made.
William looks very cosy in his new rugs, and Mary is delighted "Many Thanks, I never thought I would get a rug to fit him!"
Mary lives near Fir Tree Stud, so we popped down the road and took some photos because we are rather pleased to have been able to help Mary and William with their problem.

FTS RUGS goes on!!

FTS RUGS was well and truely snowed in, but, we still managed to get the orders out by pushing wheel barrows a quarter of a mile to the road!

Winter arrives at Fir Tree Stud!

We cant remember when it last snowed so much, but today, everyone went out and enjoyed themselves anyway!

Kieran & Tigers First Dressage Competition.

Kieran and his pony Tiger enjoyed their first ever dressage competition. Kieran who is Seven handled Tiger very well and helped Tiger keep his confidence in the arena. Andrew who trains the combination, was there with one of his horses, so afterwards he and Kieran posed for this photo.

MERLIN IBN MAXIMO Begins Competing!

'MERLIN IBN MAXIMO' has now done a couple of preliminary dressage tests, he is beginning to settle in very well, and understand the job. Andrew and Merlin are building a very good relationship together, coupled with his excellent temperament, the results are positive.

Dulcie & Robbie

Dulcie who trains with Janice and has put in alot of effort over the last few months, has reaped the benefit of all her hard work. She and Robbie are the Port Royal Junior Dressage Preliminary Champions, 2010. They were in very good company and the judge commented that Robbie, who is a stunning coloured cob, was very light in the hand for a horse of his type. They are now being encouraged by Janice to move forward into Novice and try some affiliated competitions as well.

Update on Darcy!

Darcy's been to a couple of competitions now, and he has improved dramatically. He did his first completely clear round, and here is a picture of Mel with their first rosette! He is showing alot of scope and we are hoping for great things!

Allerton Park Horse Trials

Fir Tree Stud is pleased to have attended Allerton Park Horse Trials, where Thomas was invited back to be their Showjumping Steward for the fifth year.

Willow goes to her new home!

Willow has now gone home with Karen & Elizabeth!
She has settled in well, and met her new horsey neighbours.
We are delighted at how well Fir Tree Stud's training techniques, have improved the mare.
She has taken everything in her stride and behaved wonderfully throughout the transition.
Good luck to Karen, Elizabeth & Willow, we hope their partnership will continue to flourish.

Amethyst Arabians and Fir Tree Stud work together!

Amethyst Arabians, a well known Arab stud based at Whitgift in the East Riding have asked Andrew to train and compete British Dressage with their stallion 'MERLIN IBN MAXIMO' .
Andrew is delighted with this outstanding horse and is confident his excellent temperment will be right for Dressage training.
Their partnership has only just begun but already they look good together.

Recent success stories at Fir Tree Stud!

Hard work and persistence pays off!

DARCY

When Darcy came to stay with us in September 2009, he had problems. Abused as a youngster, and rescued by his owner Mel, he had never really got over his early traumas.
He did not trust people and was difficult to handle on the floor, and not rideable. Using natural horsemanship methods initially to gain his trust, and to teach him to work with us, and then of late more classical methods in riding, we, with Mel have finally taken him away from home to Port Royal, our local competition centre, where we hired the arena and schooled and jumped him. Mel said she never believed she would see the day, but we are there!
After a few more practices he will now be going to his first proper competition!!

WILLOW














Willow arrived approximately 8 weeks ago, unhandled and unbroken. She is an unraced thoroughbred with a gentle nature, who we have started on behalf of Karen and Elizabeth. They hope after riding her with us here, to take her home to their yard very soon. We are totally delighted with how sweetly this mare is going.
